Brunswick County N. Carolina May 5th 1865 We the undersigned former slaves of Daniel L Russell do agree to cultivate as much of his plantation in Town Creek Brunswick County in corn potatoes peas and sugar cane as we are able to do; said Russell furnishes team and food furnishes bread and what Pork there is at present on the plantation, and we do agree to cultivate said lands well and keep the plantation in order; the corn, potatoes peas fodder and Sugar Cane to be well saved and housed, and we are to deliver one half of everything of the whole crop to be delivered [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] ^[[insertion]] at [[/insertion]] the Barn.
