Giving and the Game

On Friday July 13, from 6:30 to 9 p.m., spend the evening exploring how baseball can change communities, with the people that changed the game and the objects that made baseball history at this special reception, part of our All-Star Baseball Film Festival!

Enjoy ballpark favorites with a special twist! Our custom menu will include:

  • Mojito Brined Pork Medallion, Mint & Parsley Gremolata
  • Ropa Veija, Tortilla Chip, Cilantro
  • Red Beans & Rice
  • Roasted Eggplant Spears, Cuban Mojo Aioli
  • Arroz con Leche 

Get up close and personal with rarely viewed objects from our baseball collection. 

Celebrate and explore Latino baseball culture and the impact of baseball on communities with baseball players and leaders, philanthropists, and historians. Panelists include: 

  • Omar Minaya, special assistant to the New York Mets' General Manager
  • José Antonio Tijerino, president and CEO of the Hispanic Heritage Foundation 
  • Adrian Burgos, scholar of Latino and Afro-Latino baseball history, editor-in-chief at La Vida Baseball 

This is a 21+ event. Tickets start at $65.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Luis Tiant will be unable to attend.

The program is made possible by the Fidelity Charitable Trustees’ Initiative, a grantmaking program of Fidelity Charitable, through the museum’s Philanthropy Initiative. The Initiative is also made possible by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and David M. Rubenstein.  In addition, Giving and the Game is supported through a gift from Cordoba Corporation and a partnership with the Smithsonian Latino Center and La Vida Baseball.
